Today is Save me Sundays
Last week we discussed spray paint and how it can magically transform a piece. Simple, but can have a POWERFUL impact.
You see this box...THINK OUTSIDE IT! Seriously...get out the box and when you are outside of it...think. Think what else can this box be used for. Dual purposes. We all know that we often use one thing for its UNintended purpose. Like when I'm in a bind and don't have a lint roller...I will use tape.
When shopping thrift (or any place mind you) allow yourself to imagine what else can something be used for.
I found these book ends just this last week. Hideous! (ok maybe spray paint could help). I picked them up and "throwed it in da bag". Well cart actually.
I don't have a library, so why did I need bookends? Well I didn't. I bought them for the hardware.
Inspiration...Studly buffet below.
When I tweeted my little find...Centsational Girl tweeted me back with these.
She bought these off etsy.com.
Perhaps you saw an ugly dresser in a thrift store, BUT the hardware was impressive. Buy the dresser. Remove the hardware. Donate the dresser back (I mean it has no hardware, but it prevents you from lugging that monstrosity home).
So, for today's Save me Sunday we are "Thinking Outside the Box", literally.
What have your purchased and used for an UNintended purpose?
